Ajman: Thumbay University Hospital conducts breast cancer awareness programme supported by police

Ajman, Oct 20: In line with its commitment to build healthier communities and to promote health awareness, Thumbay University Hospital, the largest private academic hospital in the region located at Thumbay Medicity, Al Jurf, here, on October 15 conducted a breast cancer awareness programme.

Organized to mark the breast cancer awareness month, the programme was supported by Ajman police and comprised of various programmes highlighting the importance of early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

The programme included a cake-cutting ceremony attended by Major Noura Al Shamsi - head of the department of Media and Public Relations of Ajman Police and Lt Rashid Al Kaabi from the Protocol Department, in the presence of Dr Manvir Singh Walia - COO of Thumbay University Hospital, Dr Fozi Abozaid Dakilah – medical director of the hospital, and other members of the hospital’s administrative team. This was followed by a pink-ribbon formation by the staff of the hospital, and a short talk by the medical director on the importance of early detection and treatment. The delegation from Ajman police toured the hospital’s advanced facilities.

Commenting on the importance of the breast cancer awareness event, Akbar Moideen Thumbay, vice-president of the healthcare division of Thumbay Group said, “Thumbay Hospitals are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and creating awareness on the importance of timely health check-ups, among communities. This event at Thumbay University Hospital was organized to emphasize the importance of early detection of breast cancer, which is important to controlling the disease. Early detection, diagnosis and treatment are crucial to ensuring recovery. The disease becomes fatal when detected late.”

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women worldwide. According to studies by the Global Cancer Observatory, in 2018 alone, there were over 2 million new cases and more than 600,000 deaths due to breast cancer. Every year, October is celebrated worldwide as ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month'.

    IT IS RECOMMENDED BY THE DOCTORS SELF BREAST EXAMINATION AND YEARLY MAMMOGRAMY IS A MUST FOR LADIES IN ORDER TO HAVE EARLY DETECTION OF CANCER WHICH COULD BE CURED.IN TODAY'S BUSY LIFE WOMEN SHOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER THIS AS NOTHING IS IMPORTANT THAN ONES HEALTH.
