Oct 18: One death, 183 fresh corona cases in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi tally rises by 130

Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 18: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday October 18 recorded 183 fresh coronavirus cases and three deaths, while Udupi reported 130 new cases.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 2,24,879 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,96,565 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 28,314, including 183 new cases reported on Sunday. Out of these, 3,395 cases are currently active.

As many as 272 people were discharged on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 24,288.

A total of 631 deaths have occured so far, including three on Sunday.

The district administration has stressed that people need to wear masks while stepping outside, and anyone not wearing mask in public places would be penalized. So far, 8,330 violations have been reported in the district, and a total of Rs 9,66,075 has been collected in fines.


Udupi

As per the Udupi district health bulletin, a total of 1,57,115 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,36,285 have turned out to be negative.

The coronavirus tally in the district has risen to 20,830, including 130 fresh cases on Sunday. Out of these, 1,923 cases are currently active.

As many as 154 patients were discharged on Sunday. The total number of recoveries has climbed to 18,732.

Out of the 130 new cases, 88 are asymptomatic. While Udupi reported 52 cases, Kundapur recorded 44, Karkala 31 and three were from outside the district.

Among the 130, as many as 113 are in home isolation, while the rest have been admitted to Covid care centre or hospital.
