Mangaluru: Court stays Smart City works in employees’ association site

Mangaluru, Oct 17: On Friday October 16, a court here granted temporary stay against undertaking smart city project works in the site belonging to Dakshina Kannada District Government Employees' Association in the city.

Mangaluru Smart City Project works were going on at a brisk pace in the vacant site belonging to the said association. This site is located adjacent to the building in which the association office is housed. The association had requested the Smart City office to stop work. As this plea was overlooked, a police complaint was made at Pandeshwar police station against the managing direct of Smart City project.

Orally the Smart City staff said they would stop the work but the work continued. Therefore, a suit was filed in the chief civil court here seeking permanent injunction against performing work in the site belonging to the association by the smart city workers by illegally entering the associative property. Smart City project managing director, project officer of the survey office in the city and the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada representing the state, were named as defendants. A plea for permanent injunction was made.

The court through an order, issued stay against performing any kind of work in the site belonging to the above association and performing any work there till the date of next hearing.
