Covid warrior Dr Arathi Krishna to inaugurate Mangaluru Dasara

Mangaluru, Oct 16: Covid warrior and former vice president of NRI forum, Dr Arathi Krishna will inaugurate the Mangaluru Dasara, which is going to begin on October 17 at Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatheshwara temple in the city.

According to the intention of Janardhana Poojary, the man behind the development of the Kudroli temple, Mangaluru Dasara festival of this year will be celebrated under the slogan 'Namma Dasara - Namma Surakshe'. Due to this background Dr Arathi Krishna, who has relentlessly worked for Covid-19 pandemic control, is invited for the inauguration of Mangaluru Dasara according to a release from the temple.

The programme on Saturday August 17 will start with Guruprarthane at 9.30 am. This will be followed by Kalasha Prathiste at 11.30 am, inauguration of Dasara festival at 12 noon, Navadurga and Sharada Prathiste and Pushpalankara Mahapooja at 12.30 pm. In the evening Bhajan programme will start at 7 pm. From 9 pm there will be Devi Pushpalankara pooja.

Dr Arathi Krishna is a native of Chikkamagaluru district but was born in Udupi. Her father is Begane Ramaiah and mother Seetha B Ramaiah. Dr Arathi Krishna's father was a lawyer in N R Pura of Shringeri. He was also the MLA of Shringeri and held the position of rural development minister.

Dr Arathi Krishna responded to the pleas of NRIs during the Covid pandemic and resolve their issues. She was successful in bringing more than 40,000 NRIs in the past six months to India during the Covid pandemic. She strived hard to provide permission from the embassy to the NRI companies to bring the NRIs in chartered flights.

Due to her continuous contacts with the ambassadors of various countries she was able to help scores of NRIs, who approach her in difficult times. She has helped thousands of NRIs living in countries like China, Italy, Australia, America, Philippines, Spain, Finland, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Poland, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, England and gulf countries.

Several awards have been conferred on Dr Arathi Krishna for her selfless service to the society. She has always involved herself in works related to the society. She has never lobbied for power. She is conferred with Rajyotsava award, honourary doctorate of Kuvempu university, honorary award of Sahyadri Sangha, Mahatma Gandhi Sammana award in Bangkok, Dubai Kannada Kayaka Ratna and Indian community award from the governor of Maryland State of USA.

People have given her the title 'Malnaada Indira' (Indira of Malnad) for her contribution to the Indians living in India and abroad.
