Mangaluru, Oct 15: For over a year there have been several campaigns conducted all over the coastal belt for the recognition of Tulu language. Politicians irrespective of any parties, celebrities, organizations have shown support to include Tulu language in Eighth Schedule.
Moreover, people are taking up initiative in promoting Tulu language by learning Tulu scripts and it can be noticed in many places that names are written in Tulu script in order to promote the language.
An organization, Jai Tulunad, has even started free online Tulu script learning classes where large number of people are registering themselves to learn the Tulu script.
Two days ago, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyasa Kamath had put up Tulu script nameplate at his office and received wide appreciation from the public for his initiative.
Kankanady-Valencia corporator Sandeep Garodi has also put up his name in Tulu script on his letterhead and locals of Garodi have installed a banner in Tulu script congratulating Prakash Garodi on becoming vice president of Mangaluru south BJP Yuva Morcha.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Sandeep Garodi said, "Today everyone speaks about including Tulu language in the Eighth Schedule. Meanwhile, everyone should take up the initiative in making this happen. I have put my name in Tulu script on my letterhead and I hope this will help inspire others to follow the same. People will notice it and they will be keen in learning the script and bring changes everywhere by writing names in Tulu script."
