Mangaluru, Oct 15: "BJP should learn Hindutva from Youth Congress president Mithun Rai, and he need not learn Hindutva from BJP," district Congress president Harish Kumar said.
Addressing media here on Thursday, October 15 he said, "There are different rules for BJP when they are in power and when they are in opposition. BJP is into hatred and cheap politics. When you enter politics, you should leave behind caste and religion. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath should face the criticisms as everyone has the right to criticise. Instead, BJP is playing caste politics into the issue. Yogi Adityanath had 52 cases against him which were withdrawn after he became the chief minister.
"Does Mithun Rai not have the right to criticise the chief minister? BJP should learn Hindutva from Mithun Rai. He need not learn Hindutva from BJP. He is at the forefront and ahead of BJP in terms of preserving Hindu culture and tradition. Being in the post of chief minister, Yogi Adityanath should listen to his critics. If he cannot tolerate criticisms, then he should not be in politics.
"It may be recalled that Swami Agnivesh was assaulted and his saffron attire was torn. None of the BJP leaders raised their voices. In Uttar Pradesh, BJP did not even utter a single word against the rape incident. BJP will speak out only when there is political mileage to be gained in the issue and start chanting about love jihad, traitors, Pakistan and China.
"BJP will speak out only when the murderers belong to other communities. When the murderer and victim belong to Hindu community, BJP will not utter a single word, as though the life of a Hindu has no value," Harish said.
Former Moodbidri MLA Abhayachandra Jain thanked chief minister Yediyurappa and education minister Suresh Kumar for swiftly acting on a plea made by a final year student Aishwarya Jain to save her mother via social media. "There are several such teachers who are infected with the virus and have turned critical while some have lost lives. The government should take steps to protect teachers from the pandemic."
Former MLA Mohiuddin Bava demanded the arrest of the culprit who attacked a former taluk panchayat member at Kulshekar.
Former mayor Harinath condemning the complaint made by Jogi community president Kiran said, "Jogi community president Kiran, who is a self-proclaimed president, is unaware about anything as he complained against Mithun Rai for insulting Jogi community due to some political pressure. When the circle near Circuit House was named after Jwalanath, these BJP leaders removed the name board and created havoc during the meet over naming the circle. Why did the Jogi community not raise voice against it? I challenge the president to have a face-to-face discussion on the ongoing issue."
