Bengaluru, Oct 15: Mudassir alias Majju, an alleged rioter who participated in the DJ Halli disturbances here reportedly confessed to the central crime branch (CCB) police that they damaged and torched the house of MLA Akhanda Srinvasa Murthy, and told the former mayor Sampath Raj, to be ready for the next assembly election from the constituency.
Mudassir is said to have laid bare the conspiracy behind the riots and the way the plan was executed. "On the night of August 11, at around 7.15 pm, I got call from Santhosh Kumar, who is a confidante of Sampath Raj, to inform that MLA Akhanda Sriniasa Murthy's relative Naveen, had made derogatory post in Facebook about the Muslim priests and that we have to encash this situation to gang up Muslim community against the current MLA. He asked me to destroy the house and office of the MLA to teach him a lesson," he said.

Mudassir said that as per advice he received, he had put together some youngsters, took them to the house of Naveen where the house was torched. SDPI activists joined hands with the other trouble makers, he reportedly stated.
The miscreants who entered the house of the MLA, had robbed cash and ornaments which they could lay hands on. About Rs 11.5 lac in cash, gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 50 lac, computers, and other things were robbed during the riot, the CCB police have mentioned in the charge sheet.
