Mangaluru: Shifting of Kavoor market - Vendors engage in verbal duel with mayor Diwakar

Mangaluru, Oct 14: In the morning hours on Wednesday October 14, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) took action against the roadside vendors who sell their goods near Kavoor junction yet again. MCC had vacated the earlier market that was functioning on the road side. It had also instructed the vendors to shift their business to the new market. However, the vendors did not pay heed to the instructions of MCC.

MCC had vacated the road side market and put up barbed wire fence. The vendors removed the wire fence and started to sell the goods again at the prohibited area.

Mayor Diwakar raided the road side market on the morning of Wednesday and took to task the vendors who were selling their goods. Verbal duel ensued between both the parties.

    because you people we are having parking problems, we can't even park 2 wheeler / 4 wheeler just for few minutes otherwise these vehicle towing guys confiscate our vehicles and pay hefty fine, police have already began termination of several parking zones for smart city project why cant they take action against these street vendors with fine ? so a vehicle parked in side of road for few mins is a issue street vendors occupying same for 8 hours a day is not an issue.

    the corporation should take stern action against people ride behaviour.the corporation had made arrangement for market still this people goodagiri had to be dealt sternely

    Please taake extra care before demolish these poor vendors shops who s daily bread is dependent on the income for their families and extended family as well. It sounds easy but many suffers. Most of these vendors may h never been to school and no other means of earning. If they do not like to shift in the new market may be due to high rent or some kind of issues which require to be looked upon before forcing them to vacate.

    Mayor what about the vendors outside the central market area. They occupy the roads and create problems for motorists to drive and park on the road.
