Udupi: Addition of artefacts making Malpe beach more attractive

Udupi, Oct 13: Various development works are being executed by the Beach Development Committee near the Malpe Seawalk Way at a cost of Rs 2 crore. Fishing by boat, Jatayu etc has added to the grandeur of the beach.

In about 500 metres of vacant land between the Tebma Shipyard and the Sea WalkWay, vehicle parking areas spread over 50,000 sq ft, a 250-seat amphitheatre, sandpit for children to play, slide, and eight shops are being built.

Nirmiti Kedra here has been executing developmental works. By November, Malpe beach will become more magnificent with the addition of works.

A 15-feet cement statue of Jatayu and an artefact showing a fisherman undertaking fishing have already been installed. Sand art depicting various folklore and coastal culture is under construction.

Artiste Purushotham Adve says that the artefacts which introduce the folklore and culture of the local area to the tourists are being prepared. He said facilities for taking attractive selfie pictures will also be created.
