Mangaluru, Oct 13: Four persons were caught by the policemen of Ullal station on Sunday October 11 when they were trying to circulate counterfeit currency notes. They were seated in a car and were seen trying to sell fake currency notes in their possession. The arrests were made from near the beach. Two others who were involved with this crime however, succeeded in escaping.
The arrested foursome have been identified as Syed Haqib, Faisal Khan, Mohammed Jaman and Haris. Those who absconded were Saleem and Ranjit, it is gathered.
The police were moving towards a Honda city car bearing Bengaluru registration number parked at the beach, after finding that a gang of youngsters there were behaving in a suspicious manner. When the police neared the car, two took to their heels. At this, the police became alert, entered the car and checked the people there. The youth were led to the Ullal police station nearby. During their questioning, the men confessed that they had come there to sell fake currency notes with an eye on commission it fetched.
A Honda city car, five mobile phones and Rs 2.4 lac in cash found in the possession of the gang members were seized. A case was registered at Ullal police station and probe is on.
