Davanagere, Oct 12: Pailwan K Mallappa (92), who had become MLA twice and also was MLC for a term, breathed his last on Monday October 12. He had represented Mayakonda and Harihara constituencies in the district.
Mallappa had also functioned as the chairman of Bayalu Seeme Abhivrudhi Mandali. He had been elected as a Janata Party MLA in 1983 and on behalf of the JD(S) in 1985. In 1995, he had become MLC of the JD(S).
Mallappa was a leader of Kuruba community and one of the senior-most politicians from this district. He was very close to former chief minister, Siddaramaiah.
He is survived by two sons and a large number of relatives and well wishers.
A number of dignitaries have mourned the demise of Mallappa. His funeral will be held at the gravaeyard here at 4 pm on Monday.
