Udupi, Oct 9: Road development works undertaken at a cost of Rs 3 crore for the road connecting Kaltoor, Santhekatte, Pandukallu, Hogebelar, Kakkunjebail and Asramballi within the limits of Kalthoor gram panchayat are under progress and will conclude soon.
The demand for developing this road has been pending since the last four decades. Two years back, a retired headmaster, Halli Ganapathi Shetty, had led a campaign of villagers who had signed a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, two years back, drawing his attention to the very bad condition of the road.
This work is being conducted under the Pradhan Mantri Gramoday Yojana (PMGY). Once completed, this road will prove to be a boon for over 11,000 villagers from Kaltoor and Shivapura gram panchayats. MLAs Sunil Kumar and K Raghupati Bhat, former ministers K Jayaprakash Hegde and Pramod Madhwaraj, former zilla panchayat president B N Shankar Poojary etc extended support for the execution of this road.
