Mangaluru, Oct 9: It is said that in connection with the attempt to siphon off funds from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's Relief Fund, an Andhra Pradesh police personnel was nabbed from Ballari on Thursday, October 8.
The policeman tried to encash cheques in some banks in Ballari district. The bank staff grew suspicious and contacted the Andhra Pradesh Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). The Anti Corruption Bureau personnel came to Ballari and took him into custody.
There is suspicion that several high-level officials might have been involved in this huge scandal. The investigation so far has revealed that the gang concerned has a network spread over Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, New Delhi and some states. Andhra Pradesh ACB police have already made some arrests relating to the scandal.
Currently, the ACB is probing a case in which an attempt to draw Rs 117 crore from the said fund was made with the help of fake signatures.
