Udupi, Oct 9: MLA Raghupathi Bhat held a meeting with officials at the office of the deputy commissioner of the district with a view to give impetus to the work of widening Manipal -Perampalli - Ambagilu road, on Thursday, October 8.
A notification has already been issued to acquire land for the purpose in connection with the said road into a four-lane one by way of issuance of TDR. Discussions were held with the landowners on Wednesday about the need to surrender their land. The tahsildar has served notices to the landowners in exchange for the TDR and asked them to produce documents relating to their lands. MLA Raghupati Bhat said that it has been decided to identify differences if any in the land mentioned in records and actual measurement.
Deputy commissioner of the district G Jagadeesha, chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority Raghavendra Kini, additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, sub-divisional officer Raju, PWD executive engineer Ashok, assistant executive engineer Jagadish Bhat, municipal commissioner Anand C Kallolikar, municipal assistant executive engineer Mohanraj, and Jitesh of Urban Development Authority, were present.
PWD has sanctioned Rs 3 crore for the development and widening of the road at Santhekatte and Kallianpur here. On Thursday, Raghupati Bhat was present when the borders of the roads were marked. During the spot visit, the MLA asked the forest officer to remove trees on both sides of the road. He also wanted shops to be shifted within a week, after which a good circle will be built here.
Municipal councillor Manjula Nayak, leaders Balakrishna Shetty, Sathish, Umesh Ameen, Umesh Shetty, PWD assistant executive engineer Jagadish Bhat, assistant engineer Gireesh, range forest officer Clifford Lobo, deputy range forest officer Gururaj Kavarday and contractor Mahesh were present.
