Udupi, Apr 17: ‘Konkan Karavalinthlo Matov’, a CD of selected songs brought out by Sunshine Band Perampalli was released at Mount Rosary Church Kallianpur near here at 8.50 am on Sunday April 11. Fr John Noronha released the CD, in the presence of members, Clarence D’Souza, Franky D’Souza, Allan D’Souza, Peter D’Souza, Adrina D’Souza, Stany Carnelio and Thomas Carnelio.
On the same day, the said CD was also released at Milagres Church Kallianpur, at 9 am. Parish priest, Fr Marcel Saldanha, released the CD. Jerry D’Sa, Prakash Pereira and Franky D’Souza were present.
Sunshine Band Perampalli, which was established in 1949, has all through its illustrious existence, won the hearts and minds of thousands of listeners. The band was established by Gregory D’Souza, has completed 60 years of service to music. The band has carved out a niche for itself not only in Coastal Karnataka, but also in Bangalore, Shimoga, Madikeri, Bantwal, Tirupati etc.
To enable the people in general to enjoy the rich and versatile music of the brass band, the band has brought out the audio, ‘Konkan Karavalinthlo Matov’. The CD represents the rich culture and traditions practised by the people living in Coastal Karnataka.
‘Konkan Karavalinthlo Matov’ is a collection of melodious songs, carefully picked from albums like Mhuja Deva, Nashib Thun Mujen, Ravller, Nashibanthlya Chedwa, Gupith Mog, Nashib Thun Mujen, Mick Max and Punov and includes Baila Naach, Birdie Dance and Woogie Boogie too, which have been presented ably through instrumental music. Head of the band, Franky Perampalli, on trumpet, and Marvin Malpe on clarinet, have provided ample proof of their passion for music and playing skills through this CD.
The CD was recorded at Cad Media Centre in the city, by sound engineer, Guru Mangalore.
