Bantwal, Oct 4: The Bantwal police led by sub-inspector T D Nagaraj on Sunday October 4 arrested a person for extracting oil from ganja and selling it at Ukkuda Kantyakda here.
The arrested accused has been identified as Abdul Khader (25) alias Addu, a resident of Ukkuda in Kasaba, Vittal.
The police also seized items worth Rs 80,000 from the accused.
The operation was jointly conducted by crime branch and Vittal police based on credible information that a person was illegally storing and selling ganja at Kantyadka. The police team raided the spot and questioned Abdul Khader who was acting suspiciously.
On interrogation, Khader admitted to extracting and selling ganja oil (hashish oil), police sources said.
Vittal police have registered a case and seized 300 gram ganja oil and 40 gram ganja from the accused.
The accused has contact with drug peddlers from Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, as per police information. He had network in Bengaluru for selling ganja and ganja oil. He was planning to expand his network in Dakshina Kannada when the police arrested him.
The police team was guided by district SP Dr Laxmiprasad and was led by Bantwal SI Valentine D'Souza. The team comprised of T D Nagaraj, Vittal police station SI C Vinod S K, Bantwal traffic police station officer Rajesh K V, Gonibasappa, Kumar, Vivek, K T Jayaram, Prasanna, Lokesh, Pratap and Vinayak.
