Bengaluru, Oct 1: Bye-elections for the assembly constituencies of Sira and R R Nagar will be held on November 3. All the political parties are making preparations for the same since quite some time. Rumours were rife that JD(S) and Congress are going to field alliance candidate in the R R Nagar constituency. However, former CM Kumaraswamy had denied this.
Kumaraswamy said, "There is no question of alliance with Congress. I have noticed the statements of the Congress leaders who have already denied any chance of alliance. We will contest on our own. Under no circumstances will we do alliance."
"Meeting is already held with the workers, leaders and aspirants for party ticket of R R Nagar constituency. The name of the candidate will be finalized soon. Our aim is to defeat national parties," said Kumaraswamy.
H D Kumaraswamy further said that countermeasures of JD(S) to defeat national parties like BJP and Congress is ready. He also informed that it is not easy for a regional party like JD(S) to face national parties like Congress and BJP. However, he said that his party is psychologically ready for the elections.
Assembly by-polls for Sira and R R Nagar will be held on November 3. Nominations can be filed from October 9 itself. Nominations will be scrutinized on October 17. Results will be announced on November 10.
