Mysuru, Oct 1: Even though the government has issued clear instructions against reopening of schools and colleges in view of the prevailing COVID situation, it is found that classes are being held for students of different classes in the Adichunchanagiri educational institution at Periyapatna in the district.
Classes are conducted inside the school building since the last 15 days. Every class has student strength of 40 to 50. Acting Tahsidar of Periyapatna, Basavaraju, said that the institution has violated the government order by not sticking to the directive not to open schools and colleges at present.
Administrative officer of the institution, Sudhakar, claimed that no classes were conducted and the students were being taught how to download Google app in the mobile phones of the students. Block education officer, Y K Thimmegowda, said that during the spot visit, the information that classes were being conducted only for PU students was gathered. He said that if it is proved that classes were also conducted for high school children, strict action would be taken.
Deputy director of public instruction, J R Geetha, said that there is no permission to hold classes for PU students inside the classes and only online classes are permitted. She said that holding of classes at Periyapatna has not come to her notice and that if the classes were indeed conducted, notice would be issued.
