Mangaluru: Mega drugs racket suspected - Arrested Nigerian national being interrogated

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Oct 1: The city crime branch (CCB) officials have been actively undertaking their investigation into the drugs racket. They have now intensified the questioning of an arrested Nigerian national identified as Frank about the operation of the racket. They have reasons to believe that a huge drugs racket has been operating between the city and Bengaluru.

The police are checking the spots where Frank lived at Bengaluru in the past, and are also probing the people he was in contact with. They are also making efforts to find out places where he would have stored the drugs he procured from elsewhere. It is said that Frank used to deliver drugs to a person named Shan from Thokkottu here who is currently living in Bengaluru. From Shan, Kishore Aman Shetty, Nausheel and others used to buy drugs and bring them to Bengaluru, as per information. Both Frank and Shan are in police custody.

The police have found that the drug peddlers have connection with cricket betting bookies and some personalities in the cinema world. The arrested people reportedly confessed about organizing parties in which bookies as well as people associated with Bollywood and Sandalwood had taken part. While the CCB and personnel of narcotics station have been following synthetic drug trail, the police and excise department have been chasing ganja, charas and other drugs. It is said that ganja comes into the city in large quantities from Kerala, Shivamogga etc.

Inspector transferred

In the meanwhile, in an interesting development, CCB inspector Shivaprakash Rajendra Nayak, who was a member of the probing CCB team, has been transferred to the Lokayukta. Kaup police inspector Mahesh Prasad, has been brought in to fill the vacancy created by Shivaprakash's transfer.
