Mangaluru, Sep 30: Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha Karnataka unit has urged the city mayor to create a circle in front of the KSRTC bus stand at Bijai here, install the statue of Swatantraya Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar there and name the circle after Veer Savarkar. It presented a memorandum to the city mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar, on Wednesday September 30, reminding that Veer Savarkar, one of the founders of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, who was a poet, writer, and freedom fighter, is the force that inspires the people.
"Veer Savarkar's patriotism was unquestionable. He spent two decades in the cellular prison in Andaman, but a particular political party did not allow him to live in peace. The Dakshina Kannada district committee of the Mahasabha has decided that a statue of this great leader should be installed after building a circle in front of KSRTC bus stand. We request you to provide space for creating a circle and for installing the statue of Veer Savarkar there," Mahasaba stated in the memorandum.
District president of the organization, Rajesh K Yekkur, and state president Dr L K Suvarna, and other leaders were present.
