Mangaluru, Sep 30: The daily train service between Bengaluru and Karwar via Mangaluru has been suffering from lack of passengers. The services had been started recently after remaining cancelled for several months due to coronavirus fears.
Railway sources said that on September 24, 18 passengers travelled in the train on September 24, 15 on September 25, 20 on September 26, 21 on September 27 and 18 on September 28.
In the train which left Bengaluru for Karwar on September 24 had only 13 passengers, 23 on September 25, 27 on September 26, 18 on September 27 and 12 on September 28. On other days too, only a handful of passengers have booked their seats.

It is said that people are wary of undertaking train travel because of corona concerns. But the trains follow social distance and sanitation systems for protecting the passengers. The passengers need not be worried on this issue, the railway department says.
From September 4, train No 6585 began its journey while train No. 6586 from Karwar began on September 25. The train leaves Bengaluru at 6.45 pm and reaches Karwar at 8.25 am the next day. It leaves Karwar at 6 pm and reaches Bengaluru at 8 am. Tickets for these trains are not issued at the stations and advance reservation is necessary. Some have suggested that issuance of tickets at stations might result in an increase in the number of passengers using these train services.
