Udupi, Sep 28: The decomposed body of Shekar Poojary (55) a resident of Edabettu, was found at his residence on September 28.
Shekar Poojary was married and employed in Mumbai. His family was staying in Edabettu. As Shekar Poojary would consume a lot of alcohol and cause distress to his wife and children, the family was staying away at his wife’s parent’s home in Kemmannu since the last 12 years.
Shekar Poojary used to visit his house in Edabettu every now and then and return to Mumbai.
Poojary had come to his hometown on July 20. The panchayat officers and police officials had also sealed down the house on July 21 with the lockdown in progress and also since there was no communication with Shekar Poojary later.
Earlier today, the officials visited the house at about 8 am to make sure that the house was not damaged during incessant rain. However, they found Poojary’s completely decomposed body in the house.
As Shekar Poojary was known to have been consuming excessive amounts of alcohol its likely that he died from it. However, there may also have been another reason for his death which is said to have occurred between July 21 to September 28.
A police case under registration No. 48/2020 Section 174 CRPC has been registered in Malpe police station.
