The university had recently conducted examinations for graduate and postgraduate sections. Everything went on smoothly till September 25. On that day, Kannada computer examination was conducted in four other colleges except the Kannada department located within the university complex. Head of the department had just informed the students that question papers had not been received.
Registrar (examinations) of the university, Prof P L Dharma has refuted the said claim. He said that suitable instructions and information had been conveyed to all the examination centres including the Kannada department of the university through email instead of post in view of the prevailing coronavirus situation. He said that as per rules, the question paper was also delivered in advance and that the university has a record of acknowledgement by the head of Kannada department for having received the question papers. He stated that the head of Kannada department failed to hold the examination on the prescribed day.
He stated that notice has been served on the head of the department charging him of serious misconduct in the form of dereliction of duty. He has been asked to reply within two days, he added.
