Mumbai: Bus conductor asks passenger to wear mask, gets assaulted

Mumbai, Sep 25: A bus conductor suffered injuries and received stitches to the head after he was assaulted by a passenger who refused to wear a mask, a report by TOI stated.

The bus conductor identified as Sainath Kharpade was on duty on route 706 ferrying passengers from Bhayander to Marol in Andheri. One of the passengers who climbed onboard en route entered without a mask. As per Sainath, he had politely requested the passenger to wear a mask, however, the latter refused by saying that he did not have coronavirus infection.

On the conductor's second request, the customer reportedly got angry and assaulted Sainath and left him bleeding. The accused then got down at the next stop and escaped.

A complaint in this regard has been registered in the police station by the conductor.
