Mangaluru, Sep 24: A group of youngsters referred to as Pixncil are known to use graffiti to create awareness regarding senior citizens and aim to spread around a positive message to society about them.

Pixncil consists of five youngsters Vinod, Pruthvi, Ajeesh, Abhijith and Nithesh who painted a sidewall of a building near Chilimbi Malaraya arc with graffiti, to create awareness regarding senior citizens.

The art is of an 80-year-old with a caption 'Its You Tomorrow' in order to sensitize the community about elderly people.

Speaking to Daijiworld one of the members of the Pixncil Pruthvi said, "We have recently formed this group called Pixncil which consists of five people. Initially, when we notice the empty wall, we did not think much about the concept. We soon met the owner Chandrahas who is a senior citizen and when we looked at his condition we were inspired to paint the wall so that we could convey a social message about the elderly people in our society."

"This is a new style of art that is trending in Mangaluru. The art of graffiti which we work around involves concept and realism. In today's world, older people are discarded by their children. However, we should not forget that one day even we will grow old. There are several instances where elderly people are being ignored by their own children which is quite unfortunate as even we could wind up in such situations," said Pruthvi.

Meanwhile, another member of the group Vinod said, "We need to sensitize the people regarding the senior citizens. We should not ignore them but take care of them. Through our art, we have tried to show a picture of a banana, where the fruit is protected by its peel. But when we do not need the peel we discard it. In this manner, we want to convey how society also discards the senior citizens."

"We earlier have painted around several places, however, recently under this new group called Pixncil our painting will revolve around a concept. For our next project we are planning to paint a wall at Urwa which depicting a woman who is a fish vendor," he added.
