Bantwal: Police arrest four people accused in chain snatching case

Bantwal, Sep 24: Police team under the leadership of Vittal station SI Vinod Reddy arrested on September 24, four people including a woman over theft of a gold mangalsutra from the neck of a woman while she was on her way back home after handing over rolled beedies to a beedi branch. A person who arrived in a two-wheeler at Maruvala, near Kundadka, Vittal Mudkooru village snatched the chain from the victim's neck.

The arrested people are Savanur village, Chapalla resident Mohammed Shakir alias Shaki (23), Savanur village, Shantinagar resident currently residing in Shekamale, Olamagaru village, K Mohammed alias Mummu (41), Savanur village, Shantinagar quarters resident Mohammed Iqbal, alias Ikku (24) and Ariadka village, Thingalady resident Abdul Kareem’s wife Hajira (44).

The accused were arrested at Pelathinja, near Alakemajalu, Idkidu gram panchayat limits. "Over Rs 20,650 in cash, the stolen chain pledged in a private bank at Kumbra and a Honda Activa scooter were seized from the accused," said a police official.

The arrest was conducted under the leadership of Vittal station SI Vinod Kumar Reddy by DCIB staff Praveen Rai, Vittal police station staff Prasanna, Girish, Lokesh, Vinayaka and Pratap Reddy under guidance from Bantwal police circle inspector Nagaraj T D.

    Keeping them in police custody is meaningless. Punish them at once by cut-off their right hand so that they must not snatch the chain again.

    Thank God they are now safe in Police custody.Dont let them out for some years.Ask them whether their parents taught them to such work?Shame on them and their parents too.allowing them to do this trade.
