If there was an ever smiling face in the cricket commentary box, that face belonged to Australian cricketer Dean Jones. Popularly known as 'Deano'. the Aussie was a well wisher and supporter of Indian cricket. I saw him just yesterday doing duty for the IPL matches from hi s commentary base in Mumbai along with Bret Lee and others.
As Ravi Shastri said he was 'gone so young'. A jovial guy, he starred for Australia as a topnotch batsman especially when Allen Border was the captain. Dea6no played in the historic tied
Test in Chennai in 1986 where he scored a double century. Easily evolved as an interesting showman on tv after retiring from cricket.
Sad that the bubbly Aussie passed away due to a massive heart attack in Mumbai earlier on thursday.
He was only 59 and had many more years of cricket story telling left in him. May God give his family enough strength to bear this sudden loss.
Always a great friend of Indian cricket.
