Bantwal: Two men arrested for illegal possession of 96 tetra packs of alcohol

Bantwal, Sep 22: Vittal police station sub-inspector and staff took into custody Suvarna Naik and Mohammed Sharif on charges of illegal possession of several tetra packs of alcohol, so as to later sell them for a profit.

The men are residents of Padnur village in Vittal. 

Police personnel seized over 8,640 litres of liquor worth Rs 3,360 in 96 tetra packs of 90 ml each from the accused.

A case under Section 14 along with 32(1) and Section 15 together with 32 (2) of Excise Act has been registered at Vittal police station in this connection.

    How they can prove it was for resale when wine shops are fully open?

    The liquor manufacturers must not be allowed to
    sell liquor in poaches and tetra packs as it encourages
    those who do not require to drink as they will not be
    able to afford 375ml or 725ml bottles at present excise
    and other taxes, that the government is reaping from
    such harmful liquid as liquor has no health benefits,
    and is evil and only destroys the society.

    Why blame the peddlers when the manufacturers encourage
    their ease of trade in such tetra packs and poaches. Bottles
    are fragile and can break - the risk of a loss is high!

    While people who have swindled more than 3,360 crore rupees are scot free, this Rs 3,360, is shown as a big mountain, police have climbed. It is nothing but a big issue made over a small tissue. Police could have just given a warning and left them, since police have so many other big problems to solve.

    If it's 96 tetra packs of 90ml , then it should be 8640 ml of liquor ..not 8640 litres...8640milli litres is 8.64 litres , einsteins...
