Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 21: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, September 21 recorded 233 new cases and eight deaths, while Udupi reported 233 new cases and four deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 20,367 positive cases have been reported to date, out of which 4,317 are currently active. A total of 1,39,050 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,18,683 reported negative.
As many as 15,505 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 404 on Monday. A total of 490 deaths have occurred so far, including eight on Monday.
Among the 233 new cases, 78 are primary contacts, 105 have influenza-like illness (ILI), nine have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), and 41 cases are under investigation. As many as 107 out of the 233 are asymptomatic. Among them, as many as 122 are from Mangaluru, 53 from Bantwal, six from Puttur, five from Sullia, 10 from Beltangady and 37 are from outside DK district.
Of all the eight deaths reported on Friday, five are from Mangaluru and one each is from Beltangady, Sullia and one is from outside the district. All the deceased had comorbidities.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 7,911 people are in COVID hospitals/care centres, including 71 fresh admissions on Monday, while a total of 7,706 people are in home isolation, including 162 new on Monday.
As many as 14,114 people, including 278 on Monday, have been discharged from home isolation/hospitals so far. These include 6,967 from hospital isolation wards and 7,147 from home isolation.
A total of 95,522 samples have been collected so far, including 792 on Monday, out of which 738 are COVID suspects and 33 are COVID contacts. Out of the total samples, 79,779 have turned out to be negative, including 619 on Friday, and 119 reports are awaited.
As many as 15,624 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 233 on Monday, and 1,366 cases are currently active. As per the district bulletin, 144 deaths have occurred so far including four deaths reported on Monday. The deceased are two females, a 72-year-old from Karkala, a 70-year-old from Udupi district and two males, a 66-year-old from Kundapur and an 84-year-old from Udupi.
Among the 233 new cases, 111 are from Udupi, 55 from Kundapur, 47 in Karkala, and 20 from outside the district. Among them, 140 acquired the virus through contacts, 78 have ILI, six have SARI, and five are under investigation. Out of the 233 cases, 98 are asymptomatic.
