Kasargod, Sep 21: The district continued to receive rains. Over 25 houses have suffered damages and over 20 families have been shifted.
A person named Chandrashekhar (37) lost his life after falling into a pit full of water located in an open field at Chenakkod while Sudhakar (50) fell into another such pond at Mayachi, Cheruvathur and died.
Due to the tornado experienced at Adkathbail beach area on Monday September 21 morning, 12 houses suffered partial damages. Seven families from Mogaru area and three from Madhur Patla were shifted as they faced danger from the rising level of water. 12 families from Vellarikundu Balal and three more from Kallar were also moved out.
A tree fell on a house belonging to Felix D'Souza in Manjeshwar taluk and inflicted damage. Heavy losses were inflicted after trees fell on the houses of Abdul Aziz at Kodlamogaru and Laxminarayan Bhat at Kubdaje Ubrangala.
Madhuvahini and Tejaswini rivers are in spate. Water has entered about 60 houses in Pilikkod. The intensity of rain has subsided since Monday morning. Orange alert has been issued and the meteorological department has predicted heavy rain until Wednesday.
