Mangaluru, Sep 17: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday September 17 recorded 308 new coronavirus cases and nine deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 18,866 positive cases have been reported till date, out of which 4,401 are currently active. A total of 1,31,281 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,12,415 are negative.
As many as 14,004 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 398 on Thursday. A total of 461 deaths have occured so far, including nine on Thursday.
Among the 308 new cases, 101 are contacts, 176 have influenza-like illness (ILI), 9 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), and 22 cases are under investigation. As many as 85 out of the 308 patients are asymptomatic.
Out of the 308 cases, as many as 202 are from Mangaluru, 37 from Bantwal, 24 from Beltangady, 30 from Puttur, 10 from Sullia and five are from outside DK district.
All the nine patients who died on Thursday had comorbidities. Mangaluru reported five deaths, Bantwal two and Puttur and Beltangady one each.
Udupi
Due to strike by government doctors in Udupi, the daily coronavirus bulletin was not released to the media. However, according to the state bulletin, Udupi recorded 121 new cases and four deaths, with total number of positive cases rising to 14,398, out of which 1,358 are active. As many as 864 patients were dischaged on Thursday, taking the total recoveries to 12,907.
