Sep 15: Five deaths, 316 fresh coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru, Sep 15: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday September 15 recorded 316 fresh coronavirus cases and five deaths.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 18,092 positive cases have been reported till date, out of which 4,034 are currently active. A total of 125,473 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,07,381 are negative.

As many as 13,606 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 322 on Tuesday. A total of 452 deaths have occured so far, including five on Tuesday.

Among the 316 new cases, 108 are contacts, 166 have influenza-like illness (ILI), 11 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), and 31 cases are under investigation. As many as 130 out of the 316 patients are asymptomatic.

Out of the 316 cases, as many as 148 are from Mangaluru, 44 from Bantwal, 37 from Beltangady, 42 from Puttur, 20 from Sullia and 25 are from outside DK district.

All the five patients who died on Tuesday had comorbidities. While Mangaluru reported three deaths, Bantwal and Puttur reported one death each.

Owing to strike by government doctors in Udupi, the daily coronavirus bulletin was not released to the media.
