Kundapur: Cattle trafficking - 52 buffaloes, two vehicles seized, four arrested

Kundapur, Sep 15: A team of police personnel attached to Amasebail station in the taluk conducted a raid near Hosangady check post on Tuesday September 15 and found that buffaloes were being transported illegally without any records.

The police arrested the accused, identified as Mehboob (27) from Harihar taluk, Davanagere district, Bapu Saheb (46), from Bailahongal taluk, Belagavi district, Imran (29) from Chikkanahalli in Davanagere district and Asif (23) from Bailaihongal, Belagavi district.

Two lorries, one containing 24 buffaloes and another with 28 buffaloes, which were stuffed in an inhumane manner, were taken into custody by the police.

Case under sections 5, 8 and 11 of Prevention of Cow Slaugher Act and certain sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was registered.

The accused will be produced in the court later in the day.

    So painful to see those animals treated so badly.Those people are so hard heartened not to have an idea of pain those animals are going thru.I request that those rascals/thieves be mercilessly beaten up and given some painful punishment.

    There is something called Purchase bill from the owner of the animals, taking panchayat permission to transport with the purpose is a must. even when we farmers buy cows for milking purpose we take panchayat permission and transport the animal in a proper manner even between taluks these days.

    why can't these people do the same ? how to differentiate between steals animals and the legally purchased animals transported without documents ? Process may be long but, it is safe isn't it ?

    Buffalo meat exported from India is available in Kuwait. Frozen packets are labeled as boneless meat, reddish in colour, cheaper than mutton and beef, mostly served in Mallu restaurants as beef chilly, widely eaten by Rajasthani and Bihari dhobis and mochis and Egyptians.
