Udupi, Sep 15: A 63-old-woman from Udupi went missing from Kuwait International Airport on Saturday, September 13.
According to family sources, the woman reached the airport in the evening and completed all formalities of boarding and her visa. She was supposed to catch an Indigo flight to Bengaluru.
It is learnt that after getting a boarding pass she sent a voice message to her relatives in India in which she stated that she would complete the immigration process soon. Thereafter she did not respond to any of the messages or calls over the phone.
When the relatives enquired with the airline, they came to know she had not boarded the flight.
"Her mobile phone still rings. But there is no answer. We do not know what happened to her at the airport. She did not have any major health issues. For the last 28 years she has been working in Kuwait as a housemaid. A few months back she wanted to leave her job and settle in India. After finalizing all legal procedures of cancellation of her visa, she arrived at the airport to fly to India. But suddenly she went missing and we still do not know what happened to her," said her relative.
When daijiworld contacted a few social work volunteers in Kuwait, they said, "We received news of the Indian woman missing from the airport. We are trying to find out what happened to her. We are in touch with the local police and officials here, and they are very helpful. Hope we will get a clear picture of what happened to her."
