Mangaluru: Fr Vijay Kumar Prabhu passes away at 80

Mangaluru, Sep 15: Fr Vijay Kumar Prabhu passed away early morning on Tuesday September 15. He was 80.

Fr Vijay K Prabhu, who was staying at Fatima Retreat House, breathed his last at Father Muller Hospital in the city.

Born in 1940, Fr Prabhu had served as provincial of Karnataka province between 2004 and 2009.

He had taught at the city's St Joseph's Seminary, Sacred Heart College, Shembaganur and Satya Nilayam in Chennai.

While in Satya Nilayam, he had served as dean of philosophy from 1992 to 1996.

He had also served as librarian of ISI, Bengaluru in 2009-2010.

The burial service will be held at Jeppu cemetery on September 15 at 3.30 pm. Due to coronavirus restrictions, only a limited number of people will be attending the service.

    Our heartfelt sympathies to the Jesuit community on the demise of Fr. VK Prabhu. In a span of three weeks they have lost 3 Jesuit stalwarts who were model priests.
