Sep 14: Dakshina Kannada records five deaths, 413 fresh coronavirus cases

Mangaluru, Sep 14: Dakshina Kannada on Monday September 14 recorded another steep spike in coronavirus tally with 413 new cases and five deaths.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 17,776 positive cases have been reported till date, out of which 4,045 are currently active. A total of 1,22,069 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,04,293 are negative.

As many as 13,284 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 297 on Monday. A total of 447 deaths have occured so far, including five on Monday.

Among the 413 new cases, 135 are contacts, 185 have influenza-like illness (ILI), 17 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), and 76 cases are under investigation. As many as 188 out of the 413 patients are asymptomatic.

Out of the 413 cases, as many as 169 are from Mangaluru, 65 from Bantwal, 47 from Beltangady, 66 from Puttur, 43 from Sullia and 23 are from outside DK district.

All the five patients who died on Monday had comorbidities. Mangaluru and Bantwal reported one death each, while three others were from outside DK district.

Due to strike by government doctors in Udupi, the daily coronavirus bulletin was not released to the media.
