Mangaluru: Woman dies, couple injured in accident at Adyarkatte

Mangaluru, Sep 14: A woman died and a couple sustained injuries in an accident at Adyarkatte here on Monday September 14.

The deceased has been identified as Malathi (48), a resident of Alape Padil.

Malathi was crossing the road after getting down from a bus, when a Bullet bike being ridden by a person identified as Wilfred rammed into her, causing her serious injuries.

Wilfred was riding from Farangipete towards Mangaluru. Wilfred and his wife who was sitting pillion sustained injuries.

Malathi was rushed to hospital, but could not be saved.

Nagori police arrived at the spot and registered a case.

    In our case 'road' is actually National Highway and pedestrians have to be twice as careful also zebra crossing and speed break can't easily be built on NH.

    adyar katte is very dangerous to all. A SIGNAL is to installed there
    It is a junction. We can say this and that. Some ladies due to sunlight can't take late decision to cross. And bikes we can't put sudden break. One such accident occurred near sahayadri college 6 yrs back. Staff of sahayadri. Cleaning staff. Another is mask wearing. Ohm shanthi.

    Agreed also a speed break at Bajal cross . Vehicles from Padil or from Nagori come in great speed and taking a right turn from any direction is a daily day to day risk .

    City buses coming and going to Bajal block the entry road waiting for passengers. Added to this city bus coming from Adyar stop near Bajal cross waiting for passengers. They don't bother about the vehicles coming from Bajal moving towrads B C Road.This has caused lot of accidents because the vehicles coming from B C Road is not visible to Bajal side. Few months back police had put dividers near the junction.Because of the ? pressure from Bus owners it was removed. Local corporator or Police should do something to save the life of poor citizens.

    I have seen a lot of passengers get down and cross the road from the front of the bus. Very wrong. Never cross the road from the front of the bus.

    Getting down from the bus and crossing the road immeddiately is very dangerous. The person who crosses the road should be very careful. After bus leaves then only cross the road watching the other vehicles at this stretch are moving very fast. It is unexpected for a bike rider to control the bike at that moment

    Very sad and may her soul rest in peace.
    In Mangalore we do not have proper or designated place to cross the road, if there is a zebra crossing pedestrians do not know it is their place to cross the road and above all the motorists do not know that the zebra crossing is meant for pedestrians and it is the right of the pedestrians to cross the road.

    Why to blame the rider of the Motor bike ? His wife was sitting pillion and they too were insured in the accident. If at all, it was a single rider and racing then we can justify your reason.

    Possible that she was in a hurry to cross the road without noticing bike, which was approaching towards her. It's all a destiny.

    Pedestrians always have first right to walk and cross. The motor bike should take precaution in crowded places. Just because you have a bullet does not mean you own the street.

    are bhaai....which zamana you are coming from ? imagine if you are moving on left side ok and the bus on right side coming towards you, suddenly bus stops and passenger alights makes a quick crossing behind the bus what will you do ? kyaa baath karthe yaar aise hi chodtha aye.. jaisa ki apun ko poora malum hai..
