Mangaluru, Sep 13: Working president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Saleem Ahmed on Sunday September 13 lashed out at the BJP regime in the state and said that the government had 'completely failed' in tackling the coronavirus pandemic and maintaining law and order.

Addressing a press meet at the district Congress office here, Saleem Ahmed said, "Coronavirus pandemic has been spreading across the state for the past six months. The state government has completely failed in controlling the pandemic and there is no proper coordination among ministers either.

"Even the law and order and the intelligence department have failed in handling the DG Halli riots and the drugs issue. Action should be taken against whoever was involved in these," he added.

"We (Congress) have alleged Rs 2,000-crore corruption in the handling of coronavirus equipment but we did not get any answer from the BJP.

"When the Assembly session begins on September 21, we will take up issues such as drug menace, failure of law and order, APMC ordinance, floods and Covid. We condemn the move to shift the income tax (I-T) office from Mangaluru to Goa. The government should take steps to stop this move," he demanded.

"I am conducting a tour of Mandya, Mysuru and Dakshina Kannada in order to strengthen the party and review 'Arogya Hasta' programme. Party representatives will visit houses and conduct thermal scanning and oxymeter tests with the help of doctors. 'Arogya Hasta' programme is taking place in Dakshina Kannada as well.

"We are preparing for gram panchayat elections in the district and are confident of winning a majority of seats. We are strengthening our party at booth and block levels," Ahmed said.

Regarding leadership concerns with the national Congress, he said, "There has been no reshuffle for the past three years. It is a natural process and all are given opportunity. There is no question of any senior leaders being sidelined."

MLA U T Khader, MLC Ivan D'Souza and others were present.

Every day a new topic and from tomorrow no one talks about it, same as Pappu. They don't have one single topic to continue like BJP had their many corruption scandals.

The ailing grand old Congress party, is aimlessly going around in circles.. They should gird up their loins, roll up their sleeves, sincerely make a positive revival of their party by casting away dead decaying wood and then with confidence take potshots at the ruling BJP, at the center and in the state of Karnataka. Firing empty rounds of bullets, will certainly not be effective, to destabilise CM Yediyurappa government !!!

    H. Acharya, Do you realise that people have stopped voting BJP to form the govt in the first place. The only way you can form the govt for a short term is by buying elected and won congress MLAs. So stop living in fool's paradise and appreciating your party's misadventure which is not going to last long. The writing is on the wall if you can see and read.

A parallel arogya hastha programme to the existing government programs is illegal and will be counterproductive.
