Kundapur, Sep 12: The new mosque being built at Dhannipur, about 25 km away from Ayodhya, will be an ultra modern design structure. It will also be environment-friendly. The architecture of the new mosque will be most likely inspired by Badriya Juma Masjid standing at Kodi, Kundapur, and the spaceship mosque in Qatar.
This indication was given by S M Akhter, founder staff of Jamia Millia Islamia school of architecture, who has been assigned with the task of designing the proposed mosque.
Badriya Juma Masjid in Kodi
Akhter said that he does not intend to imitate the old but is thinking of modern structures. He added that the new mosque will not be on the lines of the mosques we generally come across. He advocated the view that Gumbaz or arches need not be a part of mosque structure. Therefore, he said, he found the mosques of Kundapur and Qatar as good models. The mosque at Kodi here was conceptualized and built by Bearys Group as per Islamic architecture and modern environment-friendly technology. This design is revolutionary form of Islamic architecture.
The mosque at Kodi has been built in such a way that it naturally remains cool and greenery around and water tanks ensure that the temperature does not increase. The design has got certified emission reduction credit for the next 25 years. By using LED bulbs and modern design, the electricity used here has been brought down from an average of 40 kw to just 7 kw. This mosque was built out of money set aside by Sufi Saheb for undertaking Haj pilgrimage which had to be aborted due to ill health. It was built 40 years ago, and his grandchildren built the new environment-friendly mosque four years ago.
State president of Indian Green Building Council, Syed Ahmed Beary, said that if buildings of mosques, temples, churches, Basadis etc are made environment-friendly the devotees get similar inspiration.
