Mangalore, Apr 3: The Police Flag Day and Welfare Day was celebrated in the city on Friday April 2.
Six contingents of police force accompanied by the band took part in the Day’s celebrations at Parade ground.
Addressing the gathering, retired police inspector Anasooya said that the government needs to take care of all the necessities of policemen, who dedicate themselves to maintain peace and order in the state. Fulfilling the requirements of police can prevent corruption in their department, she added.
Anasooya also advised the police personnel to maintain sound health which is very essential to take up challenging assignments.
Advocate M Seetharama Shetty urged the police to always be sincere while discharging their duties.
Gopal B Hosur, Mangalore’s in-charge commissioner presided over the event and released the flag. He lauded the achievements of DK police for securing highest number of Chief Minister’s medals this year. He also stressed that the police department has the responsibility of taking care of the retired police officers.
Some of the retired police officials were felicitated on the occasion. The children of police personnel who excelled in SSLC and PUC examination were also honoured.
Superintendent of Police Dr A S Rao and Additional Superintendent of Police R Ramesh among others were present.
