Beltangady: Farmer develops handy gun to scare animals away

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Sep 11: Animals including monkeys which watch people going around their plantations or farms with this gun on their shoulders are sure to keep themselves at a safe distance. These guns create sounds which instil a sense of terror in the minds of the animals. The owners can peacefully undertake other works without worrying over the problem of pests.

Gopal Acharya, residing near Gandhinagar in Karimanelu village in the taluk has developed a gun that has come as a boon for the farmers who are frustrated at the never-ending woes created by wild animals. Acharya is a farmer himself and a carpenter. With hard work and ideas, he has developed this gun.

The gun has a high-quality pipe. Cost of the gun is about Rs 2,500 to 3,000. It looks like the normal gun. This gun can be used to threaten monkeys and peacocks during the day and wild boars at night. An additional advantage of this gun is that it does not pose risk to the lives of the people and animals and even women can use them easily.

Venur forest officer, Prashanth says that this is good equipment to scare wild animals as it does not harm animals. Farmers facing problems from wild animals can use this gun, he says.

Gopal Acharya says that those who used the guns made by him had expressed a good opinion about its utility. He said that the people who used this gun have experienced good relief from the wild animal menace. Farmers who wish to have this gun can contact 9113508252.

This handy gun is quite innovative, animals may get alarmed n flee from their fields.... Monkeys are primates like humans, we share the same anatomy and behavior... The gun will frighten and fool them... but in days, they will treat this sound toy, with utter contempt !!! The only permanent solution would be to keep ferocious guard dogs, like German Shepherd, Pitbull, Doberman pinscher, Rottweiler !!! They will spread fear in animals, as well as in humans !!!!!

Tea-seller flipped a utensil upside down, put a pipe through it by cutting a hole, and used the gas coming out of the sewer to produce ingenious harnessing of a combustible gas from the sewer.

Dogs are not solution to chase the monkeys. They sit on the trees and don't move for hour. Dogs will bark for a short period and fed up.

Monkeys will call the fake . They are too smart and I have seen it myself near Hebri . Initially they use be afraid of anything that looks like a gun and then they got used to it. After that , people just used gun powder and firing on them and they got used to it. On the coconut tree farmers used to use Kadhoni filled with Garnets ( tiny stones from rough sand ) initially they ran because it used to hurt . Now the moment farmer bring Kadhoni - the monkeys tuck inside tree branch so the same particles don’t hit them . Monkeys evolve very quickly and call this too . Best to have ferocious dogs which can catch one or 2 monkeys or govt allow to really shoot and kill one or 2 - once killed in the place they don’t come for months.

One should have not only ideas but use their brain .Farmer can try to get a patent.so that not any other person imitate him and later make money out of it.like smiley man.well at present animals may fear and stay away .but with time they too will learn that it is harmless .Hope they still stay away -.specially monkeys are clever.
