Mangaluru, Sep 11: The protective wall of a residential complex at Kuntikan in the city crashed to the ground on Friday September 11 morning. It is suspected that over ten cars are buried under a huge mound of debris created in this incident.
Wall on one portion of the protective wall came crashing down. Mud from the wall got deposited inside the compound of a hostel located in the backside.
There is apprehension about another portion of the wall suffering a fall. This has been creating impediment in the rescue work. The city is experiencing heavy rain. As more mud is likely to fall, operation has not yet been undertaken to clear the debris.
Firemen and local policemen have visited the spot. City corporation commissioner Akshy Sridhar, Mangaluru tahsildar Guruprasad, and former mayor of the city Shashidhar Hegde, visited the spot and scrutinised the area.
