Mangaluru, Sep 10: Afsana, an 18-year-old girl, had many dreams and ambitions for herself and her family. She wanted to pursue her education and become a teacher. Sadly, luck was not in her favour. At the age of 10, she met with an accident and one of her legs was partially paralysed. She always wanted to walk with her friends and siblings. To fulfill her wish, her parents started treatment for her leg, but the unfortunate consequences of medicines badly affected her kidneys and doctors have advised her to undergo dialysis regularly.
Since 2016, Afsana has been undergoing regular dialysis at a private hospital in Mangaluru. Afsana’s parents already sold gold and other assets they had and spent the same on her initial treatment. In spite of severe financial constraints, they spent over Rs 5 lac for her dialysis and other treatments. However, now they have run out of resources and are unable to meet the financial requirements.
Afsana requires specialized treatment and regular dialysis. However, each visit to hospital costs more than Rs 15,000. Afsana’s father is a coolie worker and her mother is a homemaker. She has a younger brother who is pursuing his graduation and a sister studying in high school. The family is currently living in a rented house near Jeppu Market, Mangaluru.
The parents of Afsana have appealed to Daijiworld’s generous readers and believe that they will bring a ray of hope in their daughter’s life. They hope that generous contributions will help meet the treatment costs and Afsana will become healthy again.
