Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Sep 9: The fact that there was large scale bungling in the evaluation of SSLC examination answer sheets have been borne out of the fact that a large number of students who applied for revaluation have got better marks.

In Dakshina Kannada district alone, over 400 students secured more marks in the revaluation and got promoted. In Beltangady block alone, 114 students from 23 schools passed after the revaluation. Shreya Dongre from the taluk, who had got 622 marks emerged as the topper in the state after revaluation, as she got full 625 marks.

Many of the SSLC students who applied for revaluation after failing are getting additional marks and hence eligible to go to the next class. Several have got their marks enhanced. Negligence in the evaluation work in case of SSLC examination which is a very important stage in a person's educational career is like playing with the future of the students.

In the case of revaluation, if the students get over six marks in any subject the evaluators get penalised and the department refunds the fee remitted by the student for revaluation of this particular paper. If the students get more marks the amount of penalty for the evaluators too goes up. But many do not seek revaluation. The students are required to remit Rs 405 to get scanned copies of the answer sheets and Rs 805 per subject for revaluation. Because of coronavirus pandemic this time, many could not file applications for revaluation.

Udupi:

In Udupi district, 272 more students passed after the revaluation. The total result of the district rose from 86.5 to 88.49 per cent. After the evaluation, 15 more schools recorded 100 per cent result, and 40 schools in the district registered cent per cent result, said deputy director of public instruction, Sheshashayana Karinja.

U G Radha, convener of Sri Rama Kannada medium school, Upplinangady said that it was found from the scanned copies that for many questions even correct answers were found to have been marked as wrong. She has asked the education department to strictly act against the teachers who have committed dereliction of duty.

This is not the first time, revaluation process is happening. It is a fact that every year after revaluation, many students have either got more marks or many have been promoted or passed. Why this type of discrepancies happening every where.Who has to be held responsible, evaluator, school administrator,Teachers, students or responsible education department. These types of lapses definitely accountable on students future and diminish the moral progressive of attitudes of the students. These types of lapses, loopholes in the system to be weeded out by the concerned department, authorities and culprits should be awarded adequate punishment. This is not a cricket or foot ball or any other game but is question of one's future.Because of some one's mistake, students, parents should undergo severe mental torture.
Concerned department, authorities must step into the issue, investigate where exactly this link being generated, find out the root cause, apprehend the culprits and penalize them whoever it may be in the best interest of student's future. This is another type of virus more dangerous than the Corona virus pandemic.

Who is responsible for this blunder? Many students were considered failed in the SSLC exams and many, many students had scored well and passed. This re-evaluation helped these students as otherwise they would lost one full year. This is a joke and those who did the bungling should be taken to task.
