Mangaluru, Sep 9: District Congress staged protest here opposite Mini Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday September 9, against the central government for their decision on shifting office of the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (PCI-T) to Goa.

Addressing the protestors, MLA U T Khader said, “Instead of developing and improving government machinery, the government is merging and privatising everything. The government has failed in everything. Even the officials are transferred if they do not work in favour of the government.”

Former MLA J R Lobo said, “Blind ‘bhakts’ need to open their eyes as we are going 50 years backwards and doing injustice to the citizens of the country. BJP representatives has no courage to speak.”

Former MLC Ivan D’Souza said, “Banks have been merged, airport is privatised and now the I-T office is being shifted to Goa. When they come to power very easily, they will not know the pain of people. Even if they are alive, it is like they are dead. Be it BJP government, MLA or MP.”

District Congress president Harish Kumar said, “Injustice is being done by the BJP government to the all sections of the society since six years. The decision of demonetisation, GST, and bad government policies have pushed the public into deep trouble. Now the I-T office located in Mangaluru is being to Goa which is really sad as there are four lac IT payers under its limits. The government should stop this immediately. We will submit a memorandum to the deputy commissioner regarding the same.

“Nalin Kumar Kateel is a three-time MP and self-claimed number one MP in the country. When the I-T office in Mangaluru, which is Nalin Kumar Kateel’s home town has been shifted to Goa, why is he silent? He should be ashamed of it and should resign. We have seven MLAs and they should show some responsibility now,” he said.

I agree with congress party workers protesting for a good cause to save the jobs here.
Why Goa? What good does it? Karnataka has best IT experts in whole of the country?

Where is nalin anna, from my previous party, as now I'm not supporting anybody.
However this country needs a credible opposition party, which congress is capable of,
I appreciate their courage and reason behind this protest.

With online faceless and anonymous assessment and scrutiny in the Income Tax Dept. the scope of corruption is down to zero, so honest people should not be worried about the location of the Income Tax office.

Mangaloreans voted in large numbers to the current govt at the center.,,
The only benefit mangaloreans got is diversion..
    Nethravathi diversion
    IT office diversion.
Bank merger ..but the merged bank will carry the other banks name not the local bank name ..for eg .
.Vijaya bank merged with Baroda bank it became bank of baroda ..Why it did not the merged bank retain its original name?
    Road diversion
    Regional Train diversion..

One Railway Zone these people could not make here in 70 years!
Still talking of achievements of the great U Srinivas Mallya only from 1960!
    Recent all agitations only!
Cycle rally,Lorry rally, Walkathon and all that with not more than exactly 29 people...Benedict will vouch...
Now this IT office....Do something constructive and show...You have to rise above politics if you have to win!...For people don't trust you anymore! Let that sink in first....You people have to start from scratch...No No..Not scratching back...but from ZERO GROUND LEVEL....

    Thank You.
