Udupi, Sep 5: “I will return to the teaching field soon after my retirement from IAS service. I will be teaching students till I can. I was a teacher before joining public service. It is my interest too. I would like to be a teacher forever,” said deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesh.
He was speaking at the Udupi district and zonal level Teacher's Day celebration organised by the Public Education department, zilla panchayat, district administration at St Cecilia High School, Ajjarkad, here on Saturday, September 5.
He said, "A good teacher who wins the hearts of students will be understood by the response of the students. A teacher should always be a learner and keep himself updated. I know stories of good teachers and bad teachers. I experienced that a teacher brings changes in one’s life. If a teacher has will power, he will do wonder and great things.
"If a person does not have interest in learning, he is not fit to be in this field. If anyone wants to make money, he should not venture into this field. A teacher should build the future of present students. Let us follow the life of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishna and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam," he said.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat who was also present for the celebration said, "Teacher's position is a respectable profession. There is a need to teach how to respect teachers and elders. Teachers are working hard during a pandemic period as corona warriors. There is a wrong perception regarding corona positive and negative in the minds of the public. Teachers should change that set of mind and clarify their thoughts. They must work in this regard," Bhat said.
