Bengaluru: 'If centre gives go ahead, will open schools immediately'- Minister Suresh Kumar

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Sep 5: Owing to the corona scare, the current academic year is yet to begin. In order to maintain continuity, currently the classes are held online. Many areas are covered by the concept of door-to-door classes. On campus regular classes are unpredictable as to when it would commence.

Education minister S Suresh Kumar said that the state would open schools as soon as the central government gives green signal, while responding to queries in this regard at Magadi taluk in Ramanagara district.

The education department has said that the syllabus can be covered if 160 days are available including Saturdays. In the past, classes were conducted for 220 days in a year. Even the number of days classes would be held this academic year is unpredictable, he said.

Suresh Kumar also said that the process of teachers' transfer will begin in a week.

The minister regretted that the students are taught about Columbus and Vasco da Gama but local heroes and things of importance are being forgotten. In an attempt to break free from this tendency, he said that in the state, personalities of great stature and famous places in the respective taluks would be introduced to the students.

Why do you need central govt to push button every time? You guys can't assess the situation in Karnataka? If central govt has to decide on everything, why do we need state govt? Go home and sleep comfortably. Stop behaving like someone's slave.

First understand the democracy and constitution how it works. Such a big country can't be managed at one place, one govt, one person. That is why they made states and gave 95% control to states on administration. Then districts, taluks and panchayats were made. This is how our constitution and governance system made. If u can't understand this simple logic, u are unfit to be minister.

Simple example : When your finger get cut, doctor puts bandage only to that finger, not to your full body. Similarly, central govt can take any decision on opening the schools at country level. If the pandemic is more in certain states, it is left to states to take call on school commencing.

They must give an option for remote learning to , not evryone can access trasnport as per the situation. Cases are more worse than before. Lockdown does not define the severity of the situation , ot was just a precautionary measure to stop cases from spreading. When you say the cases are comparatively okay , you are basically talking about how the economy has opened. Yes it has opened cause situation of the economy is dire and more delay will lead to a economic disaster folled by severve complications which long lasting effects . But schools or colleges have an option of remote learning which also cannot be accessed by all. I mean colleges can provide two options : remote leaning or physicak classes. Many people might objectify to offline classes , but yea we have people who think like you to . So two options must be given and they must sort it out that way. If they force upon someone during this dire circumstamce people will surely oppose such decisions
