Bantwal, Sep 1: A two-wheeler rider was killed in a hit-and-run road accident which happened on Monday August 31 evening. The victim had suffered grave injuries in the accident and was admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru. However, he passed away at the hospital in the night.
The accident happened on Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway near B C Road Circle here on Monday evening. The two-wheeler rider, Prakash R Chowta from Pallamajalu in the taluk, had suffered serious injuries to his head. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Mangaluru where efforts made to save him failed, and he lost his life in the night.
Chowta was moving towards B C Road from the direction of Panemangalore when an unidentified car which came from behind had knocked him down before going away without caring to stop.
A police team led by Melkar traffic station sub-inspector Rajeh K V, located the vehicle which had caused the said accident within hours and registered a case against the car driver. Rajesh who rushed to the spot after the accident, gathered the vehicle details from CCTV camera footage and found the car in Mangaluru.
