Brahmavar, Sep 1: Brahmavar, which was granted the status of a taluk sometime back, moved towards becoming a full-fledged taluk with the inauguration of its new taluk panchayat office on Monday August 31.
Fisheries and muzrai department minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, and MLA Raghupathi Bhat, jointly inaugurated the office.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Poojary noted that when Jagadish Shettar was the chief minister of Karnataka, he had approved the creation of some new taluks in order to decentralise power. "In later years, new taluks were added. Brahmavar was one among them. I will try to get more grants released by the state government towards creating proper infrastructure for the new taluk here. Full-fledged taluks are now coming into being, and we will provide the necessary infrastructure to them," he assured.
BJP Udupi district president Kuilady Suresh Nayak, zilla panchayat vice president Sheela K Shetty, Brahmavar taluk panchayat president Jyothi Udayakumar, zilla panchayat members, taluk panchayat members, several dignitaries and officials were present.
