Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 31: Dakshina Kannada on Monday August 31 recorded 270 new cases and 12 deaths, while Udupi reported 83 cases and two deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 12,713 positive cases have been reported till date, out of which 2,556 are currently active. A total of 95,868 samples have been tested so far, out of which 83,155 are negative.
As many as 9,789 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including 270 on Monday. A total of 368 deaths have occurred so far, including 12 on Monday.
Among the 270 new cases, 64 are primary contacts, 92 have influenza-like illness (ILI), 14 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), and 99 cases are under investigation. One has domestic travelling history. As many as 157 out of the 270 are asymptomatic.
Out of the 270 cases, as many as 117 are from Mangaluru, 90 from Bantwal, 24 from Puttur, 14 from Sullia, 14 from Beltangady and 11 are from outside DK district.
All the 12 patients who died on Monday had comorbidities. While Mangaluru reported six deaths, Bantwal, Puttur and Beltangady reported one death each, and three others were from outside DK district.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 6,703 people are in COVID hospitals/care centres, including 26 fresh admissions on Monday, while a total of 4,886 people are in home isolation, including 57 new on Monday.
As many as 9,101 people, including 303 on Monday, have been discharged from isolation so far. These include 5,496 from hospital isolation wards, and 3,605 from home isolation.
A total of 71,355 samples have been collected so far, including 235 on Monday, out of which 191 are COVID suspects and six are COVID contacts. Out of the total samples, 59,587 have turned out to be negative, including 220 on Monday, and 172 reports are awaited.
As many as 11,596 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 83 on Monday, and 2,398 cases are currently active. As per the district bulletin, 97 deaths have occurred so far including two on Monday.
The two deaths reported on Monday were of a two males from Udupi aged 40 and 43. Both had comorbidities.
Among the 83 new cases, 28 are in Udupi, 35 in Kundapur, 18 in Karkala, and two from outside the district. Among them, 21 acquired the virus through contacts, 32 have ILI, three have been diagnosed with SARI, and 27 are under investigation. Out of the 83 cases, 53 are asymptomatic.
